Marie A. Joseph, 98 of Central City, died on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at Cottonwood Estates in Central City.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, May 4, 2019 at the First Presbyterian Church in St. Paul. Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to services at the church. Greenway-Dietz Funeral Home in Palmer is in charge of arrangements.
Pastor Jim Garfield will be officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Memorials are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church in St. Paul or the American Legion Auxiliary in Palmer.
Marie was born on April 19, 1921 to Carl and Nellie (Smith) White in St. Paul, NE. She graduated from Cushing High School and then attended St. Paul Business College. She then went to Washington D.C. to work. She married Harold F. Joseph on August 15, 1942 in Petaluma, CA. When Harold was discharged from the U.S. Army, they moved to Palmer and raised three daughters, Lanell, Linda, and Nancy. Marie made all of the clothes for her girls and eventually opened a drapery shop out of her home. She was a 4-H leader for many years. She was a member of the Southside Extension Club, a long-time member of the American Legion Auxiliary, a 70 + member of the Presbyterian Church in St. Paul where she also taught Sunday School. She cared for Harold after his stroke. They moved to Grand Island where they lived until she and Nancy moved to Cottonwood Estates in Central City in 2012.
Marie is survived by her daughters, LaNell (Robert) Fuelberth and Nancy Joseph, both of Central City; son-in-law, Floyd Green of Grand Island; brother, Donald Welch of Cedar Rids, IA; grandchildren, Jeff Green of Grand Island, David (Shelley) Green of Grand Island, and Mindy (Brian) Brown of Central City; numerous great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; daughter, Linda; father, Carl White; mother and step-father, Nellie and George Welch; brother, Lawrence; brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Corrine White; sister and brother-in-law, Merle Ann and Duane Richards; and sister-in-law, Evelyn Welch.
