Maggie "Birdie" Ross, 84, of St. Paul died Thursday, February 24, 2011 at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul. The Reverend Martin Leeper will officiate. Interment will be held in Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home. Further visitation will be held on Monday, from 9:00 a.m. until service time.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Birdie was born on November 14, 1926 to John Elmer & Louise Mae (Falter) Osborn in Cooperstown Township, Illinois.
She attended school in Beebe, AR, Watson, MO and then at Shubert, Nebraska where she graduated.
Birdie was united in marriage to Howard Cleveland Ham on March 7, 1946 in Hiawatha, KS.
The couple lived in several communities in Iowa and Nebraska.
Birdie was united in marriage to Everett Ross in 1963.
The couple moved to a farm near St. Paul.
She worked at the Ordinance Plant and at the VA Hospital in Grand Island. Birdie loved people and she help take care of elderly people in a nursing home and then in the people's home. She also cooked for Dorothy Lynch in St. Paul.
Birdie loved being surrounded by her children and grandchildren and to watch them grow into adulthood. She spent quality time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed crocheting, gardening and her pets.
She was raised and baptized at United Methodist Church.
Birdie is survived by her two daughters & sons-in-law, Wanda & Jerry Johnson of Doniphan and Cathi & Eugene Scarborough of Grand Island; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; and many nieces and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Everett; three daughters, Judy Martin, Carol Gilliland and Tina Ross; and three brothers, Harry, Thurlo and Kenneth Osborn.
