Lucille M. Fechtner, 85, of Palmer died Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Park Place Nursing Home in Grand Island.
Services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday at the Church of Christ in Palmer. The Reverend Jerry Quandt will officiate. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Palmer. Visitation will be held on Friday, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Greenway Funeral Home in Palmer.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Palmer Senior Center or Asera Care Hospice or to donor's choice.
Miss Fechtner was born February 11, 1926 in Merrick County to Frank and Minnie (Glause) Fechtner.
She attended rural school District 58 east of Palmer. She attended Palmer High School where she graduated in 1944. She received her baptism as a teenager. She moved with her family into Palmer in 1946 and began working for a family doing domestic work which she did for eight years.
In 1955 Lucille began working at the Palmer Coolidge Hospital and Rest Home. After the hospital was closed she continued to work at the rest home until 2000.
Lucille continued to live in Palmer moving to Maplewood Corners in June 2003.
When she was 80 she got to ride on a Harley motorcycle with her nephew Dale Dankert.
Lucille enjoyed working outside in the garden, her lawn and raising flowers. She also enjoyed baking.
She was a member of the Church of Christ in Palmer.
Survivors include two sisters, Loris Dankert of Palmer and Doris Beyersdorf of Bellevue; a sister-in-law, Marian Fechtner of Fresno, CA and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Harold and Donald Fechtner; one sister, Viola Shinn; three brothers-in-law, Melvin Dankert, Ed Shinn and Arnold Beyersdorf and a sister-in-law, Elsie Fechtner.
