Lonnie J. Geiger, 62, of St. Paul died Monday, October 7, 2013 at his home in St. Paul.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul. The Reverend Ray Kosmicki will officiate. Interment will be held in Elmwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m., Thursday with a wake service held at 7:00 p.m. at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul. Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Lonnie was born March 9, 1951 in St. Paul to Everett and Helen (Wolinski) Geiger. He was raised in Farwell where he attended St. Anthony's School until the 11th grade when he attended St. Paul High School his senior year and graduated in 1969.
Lonnie worked for Sam Jacobs and Lukasiewicz Furniture in Farwell. He was united in marriage to Jeanette Vang on July 17, 1971 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Worms. He began employment for New Holland in Grand Island and retired in 2006 after 33 years. Lonnie was involved in the building of the Bomgaars store in St. Paul and then became an employee of Bomgaars.
Lonnie enjoyed woodworking, taking care of his lawn in which he took great pride and his Budweiser collection. He liked to play cards, take rides to enjoy the countryside, listen to classic country music and deer hunting.
He had a great love for his family and their activities, especially holidays when all of his family could be together. Lonnie loved classic cars. If anyone attending the funeral has a classic car, the family would enjoy seeing them, because of the love Lonnie had for them. Lonnie was raised in the Catholic Faith.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette of St. Paul; one daughter and son-in-law, Chas and Jeff Ruzicka of St. Paul; a son and daughter-in-law, Clinton and Jodi Geiger of Grand Island; six grandchildren, Trey, Colton, Lauren, Cori, Coy and Addie; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Lyle and Marla Geiger of Central City, Russell Geiger of St. Paul and Larry and Kari Geiger of South Dakota; and one sister, Lorey Gosch of Grand Island.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Amy Nowak; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Ruzicka; and a brother Eldon Geiger.
