Lois was born on November 22, 1923, on a farm near Boelus, Nebraska to George and Freida (Lemburg) Jess. Lois was the youngest of the four children.  Through 8th grade, Lois got to ride a Shetland pony to the one room country school.  She continued on to high school at Boelus where she graduated in 1939.  She worked hard on the farm as most kids her age did.  She got the chance to drive a car when she would take the eggs and cream to town for her folks to sell.  Lois attended Sunday School and was confirmed at the Nysted Lutheran Church.

At the Pavilion in Dannebrog, Lois would be there roller skating and dancing for entertainment. This is where she met her future husband, Dennis Frandsen. The couple united in marriage on April 4, 1945, at the church in Nysted.

The couple farmed all their married lives. She loved to bake cakes. Lois baked and decorated cakes for every occasion for the family. Dennis passed away in 1997. Lois got her first paying job at Centura School as a kitchen aid & teacher’s aid when she was 70 at the time and worked until she was 90.  Several years ago, Lois moved to Matelyn Retirement Center where she had many friends.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Marcia Krajicek of Omaha NE and LaNell (Gerry) Kohtz of Dannebrog; grandchildren, Kim Uhing, Gus (Amy) Kohtz, Erin (Brady) Blauhorn, and Ted Kohtz; great-grandchildren, Karlie Hanson, Nichole Uhing, Cody Uhing, Stella Kohtz, Asher Kohtz, Reese Blauhorn, Ty Blauhorn, Charlotte Kohtz, Alex Kohtz, Nora Kohtz; and great-great-grandchildren, Meyer Hanson and Blake Hanson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis; her parents; two brothers, Arnold and Alvin Jess; a sister, Joyce Harder; and a granddaughter, Dawnell Krajicek.
