Central City

Linda K. Bornmann, 56, of Central City, Nebraska, passed away at Bryan LGH - West Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska, on Monday, July 5, 2021, with her family by her side.

Services for Linda will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at the First Baptist Church in Dannebrog, with Pastor Bryan Galloway officiating. The family will greet friends one hour prior to services.  A committal service at Oak Ridge cemetery will follow the service.  Jacobsen-Greenway-Dietz Funeral Home in St. Paul is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Stroke Association.

Linda was born to E. Eugene “Gene” Hartman and Loretta (McKinney Hartman) Decker on August 25, 1964, in Grand Island, Nebraska.   She grew up in the communities of Fullerton and Grand Island. Linda graduated from Grand Island Sr. High in 1982, and lived in Lincoln, Boulder, and Phoenix before returning to live and work with her family in Dannebrog, where she met Dan Bornmann.

Linda and Dan were married at the First Baptist Church in Dannebrog on December 8, 1990.  Linda found work at Walgreens, becoming one of the first certified Pharmacy Technicians in the state. The couple then moved to Ohio, where they worked together at the Scioto River Hunting Lodge.  This was where they welcomed their first daughter, Lois Ann. The family returned to Dannebrog and were soon joined by son Caleb and daughter Wendy.

Linda ran an in-home daycare, allowing her to spend time with her greatest love – children. She adored being a mother and was actively involved in all her children’s activities, sewing costumes for their plays and volunteering at their events.  Linda was an amazing seamstress and a terrific cook, who knew the comfort a warm meal can bring others.  She studied the scriptures with joy, quoting verses often and remaining in constant prayer for others.  A wonderful musician, Linda sang, played guitar, and even wrote music. When her children started school, Linda began working at Principal Financial Group.

At age 46, Linda suffered a significant stroke.  Even still, she continued sharing her gifts with others, volunteering at church and at Centura Elementary, as well as working with special needs children at Henderson schools.  Linda and Dan moved to Central City, where they remained active in the local church.  Her faith remained strong, as did her love for Dan and her children.  She took great pride in speaking about her kids and their unique gifts, encouraging them to work hard and follow their hearts.

Linda’s life is celebrated by her husband of 30 years, Dan Bornmann; children, Lois Bornmann, Caleb Bornmann (both of Omaha) and Wendy Bornmann (Lincoln); siblings and their spouses, Ken & Dee Hartman (Overland Park, KS), Twyla & John Andrus (Yankton, SD), Lois & James Wies (Lincoln), and Janice & Keith Manka (Grand Island); step-father Glen Decker (Kearney); and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, E. Eugene Hartman and Loretta Decker; and brother, Johnny Hartman.
