LeRoy Potter, 68, of St. Paul, Nebraska died Friday, August 30, 2013 at his home in St. Paul.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday at the United Methodist Church in St. Paul. The Reverend Randy Dilts will officiate. Interment will be held in Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Wednesday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul.
Memorials are suggested to the St. Paul EMT's or the Nebraska Heart Institute or to the Donor's Choice.
Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul is in charge of the arrangements.
LeRoy was born December 16, 1944 at Sumner, Nebraska to Lloyd and Laura (Summers) Potter.
He attended school at Sumner High School.
He worked on the farm and fed cattle. He worked for some time at a ranch near Bridgeport.
LeRoy was united in marriage to Mary Jane Griffin on September 28, 1964 at Lee Summit, Missouri.
To this union three daughters were born, Tenley, Tonya and Tammy.
The couple moved to the St. Paul area in 1969, where LeRoy worked at Havlik Locker for many years. For a short time he worked at the Dannebrog Locker. LeRoy went to work at ConAgra until his health failed and he retired.
LeRoy took very good care of his wife especially when her health worsened.
LeRoy had a great love for his family and friends. He enjoyed his cups of coffee and visits with people. He loved traveling and the road trips to see the country sides. He had a special love for his dog. His other pastimes were playing cards and going to the casinos.
He is survived by his three daughters and sons-in-law, Tenley & David Jansen of Central City, NE, Tonya & Martin Denton of Holdrege, NE and Tammy & Timothy Sheehan of Central City, NE; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren; one brother & sister-in-law, Wilbert & Marie Potter of St. Paul, two sisters, Virginia McCurdy of Wood River, NE and Dorothy "Dot" Krance of Palmer and numerous nieces & nephews.
LeRoy is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary Jane Potter on July 14, 2012 and one sister Margaret "Peg" Parks.
