Lennie Edwards, 95, of Boelus died Tuesday, December 06, 2011 at Good Samaritan Hospital inKearney.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday at GraceUnitedMethodistChurchin Boelus. The Reverend Melanie Adams will officiate. Interment will be held in SoulevilleCemeterynear Boelus. Military honors at graveside will be presented by the Fort Riley 596
th
Signal Company.
Visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Friday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the Salvation Army.

Mr. Edwards was born November 28, 1916 on a farm nearOtis,COto Guy and Carrie (Woodard) Edwards.
Lennie attended a country school near Otis to the eighth grade.
He hunted and trapped with his older brother Clifford in the 1930's and farmed with his father.
On January 8, 1942, he was inducted into the U.S. Army. He served in a medium tank in Northern Africa andItalyduring World War II. Lennie was wounded inItalyand received the Purple Heart. He was honorably discharged on September 30, 1945.
Lennie was united in marriage to Anna E. Krall on November 20, 1948 inOtis,CO.
In 1948 they moved to the Boelus are where they milkedHolsteinsand farmed on two different farms until he semi-retired in 1974. He continued to farm his parent's farm until 1985.
His wife Anna died on August 11, 1985.
He continued to live in Boelus.
Lennie enjoyed playing cards and visiting with family and friends.
He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church of Boelus, Schipman-Mogensen American Legion Post #201 of Boelus, DAV of Grand Island and the Emerald PH organization.
Survivors include his five children, Mary Mahler ofSalt Lake City,UT, Lennie Edwards, Jr. and his wife Deb of Stuttgart, Germany, Kenneth Edwards and his wife Sheryl of Cairo, Kathleen Peters and her husband Hal of Gibbon, Keith Edwards of Boelus; 9 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; several great step grandchildren; and one brother, Vergil Edwards ofLoupCity.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Anna; and one brother, Clifford Edwards.
