Laura "Georgia" Oakley, 86, of Wolbach died Friday, March 23, 2012 at the Howard County Medical Center in St. Paul.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wolbach. Carolyn Hellerich will officiate. Interment will be held in Hillside Cemetery in Wolbach. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m., Sunday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Georgia was born January 4, 1926 at Brayton, NE to George & Mamie (Murphy) Horn.
She grew up in Wolbach and graduated from Wolbach High School in 1943.
Georgia taught school in rural Howard County after she graduated from high school.
She was united in marriage to Lyle Lee Oakley on September 18, 1946 in Palmer. To this union two sons were born, Mark and Larry.
Georgia and Lyle resided on the family farm east of Wolbach until Lyle's death in July 1979. She then moved to Wolbach where she continued to live until the time of her death.
Georgia was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Wolbach.
She enjoyed playing cards, doing crossword puzzles and visiting with friends and family. She also looked forward to seeing and taking care of her great grandchildren everyday after school. She was an inspiration to all who knew her and will be missed dearly by many.
Georgia is survived by her two sons, Larry and Mark, both of Wolbach; six grandchildren, Kim & Tyler Dugan of St. Paul, Craig & Catherine Oakley of Wolbach, Stacy & Mike Faimon of Blue Hill, Scotty Oakley of Wolbach, Cory Bittner and Nicole Bittner; eight great grandchildren, Trevor, Audra and Allie Dugan, Colin, Kyle & Katlyn Oakley and Kayla & Josie Faimon.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lyle; two brothers, William & Arthur Horn; and five sisters, Mary Berney, Lillian Berney, Helen Wadsworth, Virginia Scheibe and Edna Studley.
