Laura A. Hansen, 99, of St. Paul died Saturday, June 21, 2014 at the Howard County Medical Center in St. Paul.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in St. Paul. The Reverend Carolyn Hellerich will officiate. Interment will be in Loup Fork Cemetery near Boelus.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul.
Memorials are suggested to St. Mark's Lutheran Church or the Howard County Medical Center.
Mrs. Hansen was born January 17, 1915 near Silver Creek, NE to John and Leona (Czapla) Cyboron.
Laura moved with her family to a farm northeast of Boelus in 1921. She attended District 28 School near Boelus. Laura ran a creamery in Boelus and also was a telephone operator in Boelus.
She was united in marriage to Edward Hansen on September 14, 1938 in Ord.
The couple farmed in the Boelus area until they retired and moved to St. Paul in 1977. Laura worked at the Howard County Hosptial.
Her husband, Edward died on March 4, 1991. Laura continued to live in St. Paul for the remainder of her life.
She enjoyed playing cards, visiting with family and friends, cooking, baking, gardening, Husker football and volleyball.
Laura was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church and the Esther Circle in St. Paul and the Home Improvement Club.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Walt and Wanda Hansen of Mountainburg, AR and Allen and Jacqueline Hansen of Murray, KY; two daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Quentin Nitsch of Boulder City, NV and Joyce and Wallace Weihe of St. Paul; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and great great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Val and Fern Cyboron and Ed and Rose Cyboron, all of Grand Island; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Cyboron of Littleton, CO and Henrietta Cyboron of St. Paul; and a brother-in-law, Donald Plambeck of Grand Island.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward; a grandson, Greg Hansen; a great granddaughter, Julie Barnoski; six brothers, Stanley, Adolph, John, Ray, Benny, and Leonard Cyboron; and three sisters, Elnora Emerson, MaryAnn Plambeck and Barbara Cyboron.
