Kenneth D. Bennett, 69, of St. Paul died Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Wedgewood Care Center in Grand Island.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul. The Reverend Randy Dilts will officiate. Interment will be in the Cotesfield Cemetery at Cotesfield. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to Ascera Care Hospice.
Mr. Bennett was born July 21, 1942 in Greeley County near Cotesfield to Chester and Ruth (Warner) Bennett.
Ken attended rural school near Cotesfield and then North Loup-Scotia School where he graduated in 1961.
Ken began his employment by working for the Dulitz Service Station in Scotia and also farmed with his father.
He was united in marriage to Anna Fenton on June 10, 1962 at the United Methodist Church in North Loup.
Ken enjoyed working in the outdoors and in agricultural jobs, first working for Loup Valley Co-op in Scotia before being employed by Lester Wells. He then worked for Spelts-Schultz Lumber in Grand Island and then for Spilinek Fertilizer in Elba, Rasmussen Brothers of Cotesfield, Jim Christensen of St. Paul, harvesting alfalfa for the hay company in Grand Island.
Ken was then employed by Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards with his friends. He especially looked forward to his fishing trips to Canada and going to Elba to visit friends at coffee.
Survivors include two daughters, Carmen Golden and Crystal Briscoe, both of Grand Island; six grandchildren, Kayla Bennett of Omaha, Courtney Olivia and her fiancé©e Wade DeVries of Omaha, J.L. and Shelby Golden and Timothy Briscoe, all of Grand Island and Renae Boyce and her husband Joseph of Newport News, VA; one great-grandson, Caine Bennett; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Keith and Judy Bennett and Allen and Delores Bennett, all of Palmer, and Dennis Bennett of Norfolk; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Eleanor Piskorski of Ord and Norma and Tom Kozisek of Colorado Springs, CO; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Annette.
