Keith C. Gress

December 21, 1945 — March 19, 2017

Keith C. Gress, 71, of Aurora, CO, formerly of Kearney died Sunday, March 19, 2017 in Aurora.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday at the First Church of Christ in Palmer.  Reverend Martin Leeper will officiate.  Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Palmer.

Visitation will be on Friday, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.

Greenway Funeral Home in Palmer is in charge of arrangements.

Keith was the son of Dale and LaVonne (Wymer) Gress.  He was born December 21, 1945 in Archer.

He was raised in Palmer and attended Palmer Schools where he graduated in 1964.  He graduated from Kearney State College with a BA degree in Education.

He taught Industrial Arts and coached in Bradshaw and Loomis.  He then served as principal in Lyman Public Schools.  Keith then moved to Kearney and taught Industrial Arts at the Youth Rehabilitation and Treatment Center.

Keith enjoyed woodworking, attending flea markets, collecting Stanley wood planes and coins.

He was a member of the First Church of Christ in Palmer, the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Corinne Gress of Lafayette, CO; a daughter and son-in-law, Mikala and George Whipp of Valley Falls, KS; ten grandchildren; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Alvin and Elizabeth Gress of Sacramento, CA and Gene Gress of Palmer; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Ken Reed of Silver Creek and Lora and Roger Miller of Sutton and a brother-in-law, Mike Ough of Elkhorn.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Samuel Clark; and a sister, Darlene Ough.
