Kathryn Marie (Kati) Swanson, age 35, of Middlebury, Indiana, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, March 31, 2025, at her home, surrounded by the love of family and friends. She was born on April 27, 1989. After a courageous and lengthy struggle with cancer, Kati passed peacefully in the home where so many cherished moments were shared with those she held dear.
Kati was a loving wife to her husband, Ted Swanson, and a devoted mother to her children, Scarlett, Sawyer, and Alexa. Her family was deeply important to her, and she embraced opportunities for adventure with them, creating lasting memories through their adventurous vacations and camping trips.
Her faith in Jesus was the cornerstone of her life. Kati spoke openly about her love for Him and found deep connection and support through her close friends at church. Her sincerity and commitment to her faith were evident to those who knew her. During her battle with cancer, a particularly favorite verse for her was Psalm 46:10: “Be still and know that I am God.”
Kati possessed a remarkable ability to connect with people on a deep level, forging many lasting and meaningful friendships. She had a genuine interest in others and a gift for making those around her feel special.
Beyond her devotion to family and faith, Kati enjoyed health and fitness. She was introduced to her future husband, Ted, through wakeboarding with friends at their church. She was also an enthusiastic weightlifter, studying that discipline and sharing her knowledge by coaching others. She also found joy in serving her community as a substitute teacher at the local high school.
Kati is survived by her husband, Ted Swanson; her children, Scarlett, Sawyer, and Alexa; her parents, Eric and Denise Ball of Middlebury; her brother, Matthew Ball of Middlebury; her in-laws, John and Sarah Swanson, along with her brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many close friends who were like family.
A celebration of Kati's life in Christ will be held at River Valley Church, 55855 Bittersweet Rd, Mishawaka, Indiana, on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at 11 AM. Pastor Mark Moore will officiate. There will be a lunch served afterwards.
Graveside Services will take place at the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Dannebrog, Nebraska on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at 11:00 AM.
Kati's genuine spirit, her unwavering commitment to Jesus, and her deep love for her family and friends will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be given to River Valley Church.
