Kathleen A. Tucker

Kathleen Ann Tucker, of Independence, MO entered into rest on July 5, 2017 in Independence.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday November 18, 2017 in Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul.

Reverend Steven Neal officiated.

Kathy was born in Colorado Springs, CO, on May 20, 1953 to George and Erma Tucker.

She was quickly referred to as “Kathy.” Kathy was the oldest of 3 children. Her brothers are Ken & Kevin. Kathy did not marry.

After high school at Wasson High in Colorado Springs, CO, Kathy went on to Business school for administrative assistant training.  Shortly after finishing Kathy was employed by AT&T where she was a telephone operator.  Kathy really loved her job.  She was always recognized for her great customer relations and for remembering phone numbers and giving directions!

She mostly lived in Denver however the job afforded her to move a couple of times including, New Mexico, Arizona, Kansas City and back to Denver.

Once the operator position was phased out because of technology she was an administrative assistant for several more years.

In 2000 Kathy had an unfortunate fall resulting in a broken leg and surgery.  Unfortunately, there was some significant complications.  Three years later and 17 surgeries she had to have the leg amputated. She had had heart issues for quite a while.  In December 2010 she had a stroke which resulted in her coming to live in Kansas City where her parents lived.

Kathy really enjoyed music and had quite an impressive collection of vinyl records. She was also really into cars. She loved having a nice car. For a while she drove a sporty 2 door car.   She also liked to collect recipes.  She seemed to enjoy cooking, but I think she liked the collecting part better.

Kathy was a resident in Blue Springs, MO for 6 years and 5 months.  We will never forget Kathy’s kindness and love of life.

Survivors include two brothers and sisters-in-law, Kevin and Meggan Tucker and Kenneth and Marianne Tucker; four nieces, Ryan, Ashten, Jocelyn, and Shaylan and 1 nephew, Michael.

She is preceded in death by her parents in 2009.
