Justin E. “Skippy” Bennett, 49, of Palmer, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at CHI Health St. Francis in Grand Island from injuries sustained in a feedlot accident.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at the United Methodist Church in Palmer. Pastor Ken West will be officiating. Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Palmer.
Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. on Monday, September 25, 2023, at the United Methodist Church in Palmer. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date. Greenway-Dietz Funeral Home in Palmer is assisting the family.
Justin was born on October 10, 1973, in Ord, Nebraska to Allen and Delores (Johnson) Bennett. He grew up in Palmer and graduated from Palmer High School in 1992. He was an avid collector of race cars, enjoyed the outdoors, as well as going to auctions of all sorts. He was employed by area farmers throughout the years. He worked for Dinsdale’s Feedlot and Lautenschlager Pallets. In June of 2020, he moved to West Virginia. He returned to Nebraska where he worked at the Palmer Veterinary Clinic prior to his current employment with Bunker Hill Feedlot.
Justin was a compassionate man who put others before himself. In December of 2006, he started “Off The Street” in Palmer which was a center for teens to hang out after school and after games. He also helped with the “Open Door Mission” in Omaha for 2 summers.
Those left to cherish his memory include his parents, Allen and Delores Bennett of Palmer; brothers and sisters in law, Wayne and Gaylene Bennett of Palmer, Wade and Rebecca Bennett of Archer, Rex and Nancy Bennett of Palmer; sister, Teresa Lampshire of Palmer; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Paul, Kaitlyn, Isabelle, and Alana Tenski of Harvard.
Justin was preceded in death by his grandparents, Chester and Ruth Bennett, Ivan and Lyla Johnson; and nephew, Calvin Bennett.
