Julia A. Bockmann, 82, of Palmer entered into rest on October 17, 2015 at Brookefield Park in St. Paul.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in St. Paul.  Reverend Carolyn Hellerich will officiate.

Interment will be at 1:30 p.m. in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Grand Island.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the church.

Memorials are suggested to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church or the National Arthritis Research Foundation.

Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bockmann was born April 24, 1933 on the family farm northeast of St. Libory to Carl and Esther (Grosch) Lamm.

Julia attended country school near her home by St. Libory before attended St. Paul Public Schools.   She attended her senior year at Grand Island Senior High and graduated in 1950.  During her senior year she worked at True’s Grocery in Grand Island.

She was united in marriage to Linden Bockmann on December 27, 1950 in Grand Island.

After their marriage, the couple lived on a farm southwest of Palmer.  Julia worked for a year as a telephone operator.

Beginning in 1974, she worked for the Palmer Journal newspaper for two years.  She then worked at Rinder Printing before selling advertising for the Grand Island Independent and then the Penny Press.

Julia worked for AAA selling insurance.  She also was employed for a time at the Lutheran Hospital in Grand Island and then a part time job working for Palmer Scheffel Monuments in Grand Island, retiring in 2005.

The couple moved to Matelyn Retirement Community in St. Paul in 2005.

Her husband Linden died November 8, 2007.  She continued to live in St. Paul until 2013 when she moved to Primrose in Grand Island.

Julia played the handbells at Matelyn and Primrose.  She loved cats.  Julia also wrote poems and jingles, winning national awards.

She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and the Esther Church Circle in St. Paul and the Gold Huskers, which was a club for writers.  Julia also taught Sunday School.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Les and Barb Bockmann of Palmer; a daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Jim Campbell of Omaha; four grandchildren, Melissa Bockmann of Kearney, Mike Bockmann and his wife, Paula of Palmer, Brian Campbell and his wife Megan of Omaha and Eric Campbell of San Francisco; and two great-granddaughters, Macie and Madisyn Bockmann of Palmer.

Julia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Linden; and infant brother, Norbert Lamm; an infant sister, Elizabeth Lamm and a stillborn brother.
