Jr. James A. Forbes

March 27, 1953 — July 16, 2014

Jimmy A. Forbes, 61, of Palmer died Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Palmer. Reverend Martin Leeper will officiate. There will not be any visitation, Mr. Forbes was cremated.

There will be a private family inurnment at a later date.

Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.

Greenway Funeral Home in Palmer is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Forbes was born March 27, 1953 in Millington, TN to James and Anna (Burkhardt) Forbes, Sr.

The family returned to Palmer after James, Sr. finished his military service. Jimmy attended Palmer Schools where he graduated in 1971.

Jimmy began farming and ranching with his father which continued until the time of his death. Jimmy also raised cattle.

Jimmy was united in marriage to Kathy Santin on November 5, 1984 in Maui, Hawaii.

He loved to be a part of activities with his family. He enjoyed airboating, watching western movies, and for the last few years traveling with the Nutech Seed Corn group to Mexico, Aruba, and the Dominican Republic.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Palmer.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy of Palmer; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Clayton Forbes and Seth and Kristina Forbes all of Palmer and A.J. Forbes of Curtis; two daughters and sons-in-law, Noelle and Mark Koperski of Farwell and Deon and Craig Wetzel of Palmer; his parents, James Sr. and Anna Forbes of Palmer; eleven grandchildren, Allyson, Audrey, Hannah and Olivia Koperski, Racole, Hayse and Roper Wetzel, Kinsley and Koltyn Forbes, and Evan and Ayden Willits; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Pat and Jr. Anderson of St. Paul and Susan and Donn Smith of Fullerton; and a foster daughter and her husband, Constance "Carly" and Justin Brady of Beatrice.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Minnie Burkhardt and Everett and Carrie Forbes; two sisters, Kathy and Mary Forbes; and numerous aunts and uncles.
