Joyce Fern (Steinke) Peetz

Joyce F. Peetz, 80, of Wolbach, died on Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at the Howard County Medical Center in St. Paul.

Funeral Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 31, 2021 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wolbach. Interment will be in the Hillside Cemetery in Wolbach.  Pastor Glenda Pearson will be officiating.

Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. on Friday, July 30, 2021 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wolbach.  Memorials are suggested to the Donor's Choice. Jacobsen-Greenway-Dietz Funeral Home in St. Paul is assisting the family.

Joyce was born on May 12, 1941, to Walter and Bernice (Peterson) Steinke in Oakland, NE. Joyce and her parents moved to a farm northwest of Palmer at the age of three. She attended rural schools in the area until they moved to Wolbach. She then attended Summit Country School until going to Wolbach High School where she graduated in 1959.

On May 23, 1959, Joyce married Russell “Dick” in Wolbach. To this union, the couple welcomed a son Russell Timothy in 1961, daughter Jeanine in 1964, and Deann in 1970. Russell and Joyce lived all their married life on their Wolbach farm. Joyce was involved in the Trinity Lutheran Church serving in offices of the women’s groups and teaching Sunday school. She was also active in the Legion Auxiliary serving in offices.

Joyce enjoyed quilting, milking the cows, and helping in the fields. She raised many chickens and sold eggs for her entire married life. She grew gardens every year and canned fruits and vegetables for herself and others. Joyce loved cooking and baking for the family. She also loved going to casinos and taking trips with her grandchildren.

Joyce will be missed by her husband, Dick; daughters, Jeanine Killinger (Alan) of Wolbach, and Deann Dickey (Kelly) of Lincoln; brother, Rod Steinke (Lori) of Republican City; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dale Steinke; son, Russell in 1979; and great-grandson, Garrett Killinger.
