Jocelyn J. Gilmont, 89, of Palmer entered into rest on Monday, December 24, 2018 at Brookefield Park in St. Paul.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Palmer. Pastors Mike and Cheryl Anderson will officiate. Inurnment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Palmer.
Visitation will be on Friday, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Greenway Funeral Home in Palmer.
Memorials are suggested to the Palmer United Methodist Church or the Burton Beyer American Legion Auxiliary in Palmer.
Jocelyn the daughter of George and Mary (Wadsworth) Hiett, was born January 31, 1929 in Palmer.
Jocelyn was raised near Palmer. She attended rural school near Palmer in Howard County and then Palmer Schools where she graduated as Valedictorian.
Jocelyn worked as a telephone operator after graduation.
She was united in marriage to Victor Nicholas in March 1949.
Jocelyn was a homemaker and after her children were grown, she worked as a bookkeeper and receptionist for Dinsdale Brothers in Palmer for 15 years.
Her husband Victor died in February 1985.
Jocelyn continued to live on the family farm south of Palmer.
She was united in marriage to Jack Gilmont on November 17, 1989 at the United Methodist Church in Palmer. The couple lived in Palmer. She continued to work until retiring in January 1991.
Her husband Jack died on December 26, 2002. Jocelyn continued to live in Palmer.
She enjoyed traveling, golf, casinos, sewing, and cross word puzzles.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Palmer, where she taught Sunday School. Jocelyn was also a member of the former South Side Extension Club, Burton Beyer American Legion Auxiliary of Palmer and Chat N Nibble Social Club.
Survivors include her children, two sons, Greg and Bob Nicholas of Palmer, two daughters, Vicki (Ron) Simonson, of Palmer, and Mary Nicholas and Leland Studley of Grand Island; 20 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Jeanene Hiett; a nephew, Gerald Hiett and his wife Suzanne; and a niece, Mary Hiett Green. Jocelyn and Victor also unofficially adopted Jack and Carol Wegner of Palmer.
She is preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Victor Nicholas and Jack Gilmont; a son and daughter-in-law, James and Lanette Nicholas; a daughter-in-law, Margaret Nicholas; a grandson, Erik Wegner; a brother, Jerry Hiett and her “adopted” son, Jack Wegner.
