Jimmie D. Schmidt, 63, of St. Paul died Saturday, December 11, 2010 at the Heritage Living Center in St. Paul.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul. The Reverend Thomas Clark will officiate. There will be not be any visitation, Mr. Schmidt requested to be cremated. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Jim was born July 1, 1947 to Dale & Maxine (Friedrichsen) Schmidt in Grand Island, Nebraska.
He was raised in and around St. Paul area. He graduated from St. Paul Public School in 1966.
He attended CCC in Hastings and studied Horticulture. Before becoming disabled he worked for Elstermeier's Floral in St. Paul.
Jim's hobbies included gardening, hunting, fishing and camping. He enjoyed spending time with family especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed taking Saturday or Sunday drives to visit friends and family.
Jim is survived by his two sons and daughter-in-law, Matt Schmidt & girlfriend Amanda Pokorney of Alda and Cory & Heather Schmidt of St. Paul; one daughter & son-in-law, Jennifer & Travis Mayer of Ft. Wayne, IN; five grandchildren, Payton, Hunter, Caden, Brayden and Jaicey; one brother, Don Schmidt & his fiancé©e TaLana Chamberlain of St. Paul; one sister & brother-in-law, Kathy & Rick Kwiatkowski of St. Paul; and a special friend, Patty Sok.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Delbert Schmidt.
