Jerry R. Becker, 70, of St. Paul died Monday, June 11, 2012 at Bryan-LGH East in Lincoln surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul. The Reverend Ray Kosmicki will officiate. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul. Visitation will be held on Thursday, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. with a wake service at 6:30 p.m. at the church.

Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.

Mr. Becker was born April 14, 1942 in St. Paul to Raymond and Agnes (Jacobsen) Becker. Jerry attended St. Paul schools where he graduated in 1961. Following graduation he served in the U.S. Army for a short time.

Upon returning to St. Paul Jerry first worked for Lukasiewicz Furniture.

He was united in marriage to Connie Scarborough on May 15, 1965 in St. Paul. The couple lived in St. Paul and Jerry worked for the City of St. Paul for a few years before owning and operating a sanitation route. Jerry then operated B & J Auto Sales. He worked for a couple of car dealerships including Gillham Auto Sales in St. Paul and then Schuppan Auto in Grand Island. Jerry then worked for the City of St. Paul until 2005 when he retired.

He also drove a school bus for many years in St. Paul.

Jerry enjoyed tractors, farm sales, camping and four wheeling. The highlight of the farm sales was the day he found and bought his dad's tractor. He liked to collect toy tractors and do word search puzzles. Jerry and Lou Tjernagel formed the Central Nebraska Antique Tractor and Equipment Club. He was also active selling fireworks for Marv's Fireworks.

He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul and was a 43 year member of the St. Paul Fire Department.

Survivors include his wife Connie of St. Paul; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Julie and Matt and Melody of St. Paul and Mike and Frances of Rockville; three daughters and sons-in-law, Shelley and Kurt Friedrichsen of Palmer, Marci Stokes of Blair and Christy and Jerry Barker of Pine Bluffs, WY; fourteen grandchildren and one great-grandson; John Stokes of Blair; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Paul and Carolyn Scarborough of St. Paul, Bill & Kay Scarborough of Omaha, Vaughn and Carolyn Scarborough of St. Paul and Larry Houchin of Bronson, FL.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter and son, Angela and Allen, an infant sister and a sister-in-law, Geraldine Houchin.
