Jean Cornelius, 80 of Grand Island died Thursday, October 20, 2011 at her home in Grand Island.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul. The Reverend Randy Dilts will officiate. Burial will be held in Nysted Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Jean was born on July 14, 1931 at Nysted, Nebraska to Knud & Norma (Petersen) Jeppesen.
She was raised at Nysted, Nebraska and she graduated from Dannebrog High School in 1949.
In 1953, she moved to Grand Island and worked at CAAP Ordinance Plant and Delicious Foods.
Jean was united in marriage to Archie Cornelius on January 6, 1976 at Aurora, Nebraska.
Jean enjoyed her family and grandchildren. She especially enjoyed gardening, canning and her pets.
She is survived by her husband Archie; sons & daughter-in-law, Glenn & Penny Hasselmann, Gary Hasselmann & Pam Hasselmann, Jason Cornelius and Larry Cornelius; daughter, Kathy Galyardt; grandchildren, Travis Hasselmann, Dustin Hasselmann, Page Hasselmann, Brent Hasselmann, Jeanie & Christie, Austin Cornelius and Michaela Cornelius; sisters-in-law, Darlene Jeppesen and Maxine Livingston; six great grandchildren; a niece and her husband, Jodene & Ken Stoks and their daughter Kendra.
Jean is preceded in death by her parents, a brother Kenneth Jeppesen and a nephew, Randy Jeppesen.
