Jayne L. Nelson, 89, of Ravenna died Sunday, December 14, 2014 at Good Samaritan Society in Ravenna.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Dannebrog. The Reverend Sheri Lodel will officiate.
There will not be any visitation.
Inurnment will be held in Loup Fork Cemetery near Boelus.
Memorials are suggested to the Dannebrog-Boelus EMT's or donor's choice.
Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul is in charge of the arrangements.
Jayne was born November 19, 1925 near Boelus to Thomas and Esther (Berger) Eriksen.
She was raised near Boelus and attended Boelus schools where she graduated from Boelus High School in 1944.
Jayne was united in marriage to Lyle Nelson on February 12, 1944 in Smith Center, Kansas.
The couple lived in Boelus before moving to a farm between Dannebrog and Boelus in 1951. Jayne worked at the Nebraska Cornhusker Ammunition Plant in Grand Island three different times during the 1950's and 1960's. Jayne also worked at the Good Samaritan Center in Ravenna for twelve years.
She served as a foster grandparent at Centura Schools and also at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Grand Island. She lived at the Good Samaritan Center in Ravenna for the past six years.
Besides being an "amazing mother and grandmother" to her family, she was a great cook. She also liked to paint, garden and play cards and bingo.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Melvin Nelson of Dannebrog and Todd and Katrina Nelson of Boelus; a daughter and son-in-law, Sally and Nathan Perkins of Jefferson City, Missouri; eleven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Riley and Donna Eriksen of Boelus and Jack and Leona Eriksen of Morongo Valley, CA; and a sister, Nadine Franssen of Litchfield.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lyle on February 3, 2010; a son, Wayne Nelson and a brother-in-law, Lavern Franssen.
