James A. McKoski, 68, of St. Paul died Friday, January 14, 2011 at the Howard County Medical Center in St. Paul.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday at the United Methodist Church in St. Paul. The Reverend Joel Rathbun will officiate. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul with military honors by the Carl Mogensen American Legion Post #119 of St. Paul. Visitation will be held on Thursday, from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul.
Memorials are suggested to the Polysystic Kidney Foundation.
Mr. McKoski was born October 12, 1942 in St. Paul to Roy and Erna (Zimbelman) McKoski.
He attended St. Paul Public Schools where he graduated in 1961.
Jim entered the US Army serving in Germany. After receiving his discharge he returned to St. Paul working at the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant in Grand Island.
He was united in marriage to Joyce Whetstone in 1972 in Grand Island. The couple lived in Grand Island where Jim was employed at Whetstone Construction for a few years.
Jim moved to St. Paul and was then employed at Monfort's in Grand Island until 1985 when he became disabled from an accident. He continued to live in St. Paul for the remainder of his life.
Jim's real love was his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, cars, and even drove race cars in his earlier years.
He was a member of the Carl Mogensen American Legion Post #119 of St. Paul and the Eagles Club in Grand Island.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Wendy McKoski of St. Paul; a daughter and son-in-law, Shannon and Michael Taylor of Humble, TX; eight grandchildren, Anthony, Zachary, Wauneta, Austin, Mackenzie, Angelina, Tyler, and Chelsie; three brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Jeanette McKoski of Omaha, Michael and Ollie McKoski of Farmersville, CA and Gary and Kathy McKoski of St. Paul and a sister and brother-in-law, Janette and Andy Glause of St. Libory.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
