Howard E. Glines, 71, of Scotia died Sunday, August 24, 2014 at the Howard County Medical Center in St. Paul.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul. Reverend Mark Middendorf will officiate. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Scotia.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Mr. Glines was born November 11, 1942 in Wolbach to Floyd and Velma (Boesen) Glines.
He was raised in the Wolbach, then Scotia areas. He attended North Loup-Scotia High School where he graduated in 1961.
After his graduation, he worked for Greeley County.
Howard was united in marriage to Harriett Burton on January 13, 1965 at the United Methodist Church in Scotia.
Howard worked for Vlach Construction and Christensen Feed Yard. He worked helping to build the Calamus Dam and ditches. He purchased his own equipment and was self-employed as Glines Construction. He then bought a bobcat and worked as Glines Tree Cutting.
Howard and Harriett owned the Scotia Café© for 14 ½ years.
Howard enjoyed hunting deer and waterfowl. He especially enjoyed his family and grandchildren's activities.
He was a member of the Scotia Fire Department, R.C. & D and Biochar.
Survivors include his wife, Harriett of Scotia; a son and daughter-in-law, Eugene and Kristie Glines of Florence, AZ and a daughter and son-in-law, Katherine and Ty Crocker of Parker, CO; four grandchildren, Kelsie, Gevin, Gared and Kaitlyn; a brother and sister-in-law, Clyde and Roberta Glines of Central City; and two sisters & brothers-in-law, Lila & James Stilson of Fountain, CO and Twila & Jerold McCrown of Happy, TX.
He is preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Lana Kay Glines.
