Harry Wright, 55, of Scotia died Friday, May 7, 2010 at his home in Scotia as a result of a farm accident.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at the United Methodist Church in North Loup. Inurnment will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery in Scotia. Military honors at graveside by Rueben Beck American Legion Post #150 of Scotia. There will not be any visitation, Mr. Wright was cremated.
Memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Church in North Loup or to the Scotia Rescue Unit.
Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul is in charge of the arrangements.
Harry was born March 12, 1955 in Bonneau, South Carolina to Joan Wright.
He was raised by Sarah & Daniel Warren in St. Stephen, South Carolina. He attended Bonneau Elementary and Macedonia Junior High School. He moved to the Bronx, New York with his mother at age 13 and attended Evander Childs High School.
He joined the US Army in 1975 serving in Georgia, California and Germany. Harry received an Associates Degree in Business while in the service.
He was united in marriage to Crystal Jensen of North Loup in Tacoma Washington on September 18, 1978. Three children were born to this union, Maceo, Amber and Belinda.
After his discharge from the service in 1988, the couple moved to North Loup and then Scotia.
He worked for the Twin Loup Reclimation District in Fullerton. He also enjoyed the farmers he worked with in Fullerton.
Harry loved his small farm, livestock and hunting with friends in the Fullerton area. He was proud to be of service to the Scotia area. Harry was very proud of his children and their accomplishments.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in North Loup, Rueben Beck American Legion Post #150 of Scotia, a former EMT and served on the Fire Department. He also served as the Scotia Mayor.
Survivors include his wife Crystal of Scotia; a son & daughter-in-law, Maceo & Angie Wright of Scotia; three daughters, Kenya Wright of New York, Amber Wright of Omaha and Belinda Wright of Lincoln; one granddaughter, Ashlyn; his mother, Joan (Wright) Flowers of Mount Vernon, NY; grandmother, Victoria Harper of Harlem, New York; two sisters Celeste King of New York and Regina Walker of New Jersey; and a special cousin Regina Canty of Atlanta, Georgia.
He was preceded in death by a brother Donald King.
