Harold L. Freeland, 89, of Palmer died Monday, August 12, 2013 at Brookefield Park in St. Paul.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday at Greenway Funeral Home in Palmer. The Reverend Martin Leeper will officiate. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Palmer.
Visitation will be on Thursday, from 5 - 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.
Harold was born April 12, 1924 near Clearwater in Antelope County, Nebraska to Louie W. and Gladys F. (Verplank) Freeland.
He was raised near Palmer where he went to country school at Nance County. He graduated from the 8th grade at Sunflower School north of Palmer.
After his schooling, he worked on the farm. When his father passed away, Harold's mother and her children moved to Central City.
Harold and his brother Rolland started a lawn care business in Central City where they operated the business for many years.
After his brother had passed away, Harold lived with his sister for a short time and then moved into Heritage Living Center and then to Brookefield Park in St. Paul.
Harold enjoyed playing horseshoes.
Survivors include eight sisters and spouses, Euveda Wilson of St. Paul, Betty Beck and Lois and Norman Petersen all of Grand Island, Zella Lubken of Grand Island, Minnie Rasmussen of Phoenix, AZ, Mabel and Ernest Burkhardt of Palmer, Wanda and Fred Rother of Wolbach, and Ruby and Richard Henderson of Hastings and many nieces & nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother Rolland Freeland, two sisters, Shirley Abbott and Opal Oswald and four brothers-in-law, Lyle Wilson, Ron Beck, Alfred Lubken and Edwin Rasmussen.
