Gladys was born May 9th, 1916 at St. Paul, to Alonzo and Rose (Jelinek) French. She was one of four daughters born to the French's, Gladys graduated from St. Paul High School in 1934. After completing two years at the St. Paul Business School she worked first at the St. Paul National Bank and then at the Citizens National Bank.

Gladys married Charles E. Taylor, Jr. on January 15th, 1943, in Washington D.C.

Chuck was in Officers Training Camp at Aberdene, Maryland. After graduation, he was transferred to Wala Wala, Washington and then to Avon Park, Florida where their first daughter, Suzanne, was born on July 18th, 1944. When Chuck finished his active duty the couple returned to St. Paul to make their home. He resumed his career as an attorney. Chuck and Gladys added three more to their family - Tom, Cathryn and John. As a busy homemaker, Gladys always had a smile and a prayer for her lively foursome.

In her younger years Gladys was active in the Presbyterian Church and enjoyed being a member of several bridge clubs. She was a valued member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood for over fifty years, and an avid Cornhusker fan until her death. After her children were grown Gladys worked for Chuck in his law office.

Her first and foremost joy was her children and their families. But Gladys also treasured her life-long friends, loved observing her fine feathered friends, enjoyed cooking a tasty meal and sharing a good laugh with strangers as much as loved ones.

Gladys requested that a special acknowledgement be given to her daughters-in-law, Pam and Jodi Taylor, her sons-in-law, Allan Tabor and Arthur Anczarski and her grandchildren, Cathy, Michelle, Sean and Ashley, Alexandria and Samantha and her three great grandchildren, Mikal, Taylor and Thomas Allan all of whom added greatly to her life and to the lives of her children.

She is preceded in death by her husband, who died on March 31st, 1988, her parents and her three sisters, Mrs. Louise Shaughnessy, Mrs. Rose Lott and Mrs. Lareta Johnson.

Survivors include her four children, Suzanne Tabor, or Orinda, California; Tom Taylor of Hastings, Nebraska, Cathryn Taylor, of Chaska, Minnesota, John Taylor of Omaha, Nebraska and her six grandchildren and her three great grandchildren.

Gladys will be missed in her death in the same manner in which she was enjoyed while alive - with joy, humor and appreciation.
