Gerry D. Eppenbach

August 13, 1939 — June 8, 2012

Gerry Dean Eppenbach age 72, of Omaha NE passed away on Thursday June 7th at Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in St. Paul. Carolyn Hellerich will officiate. Inurnment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul. There will not be any visitation, Mr. Eppenbach wishes were to be cremated.

Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul is in charge of arrangements.

Gerry was born in O'Neill, NE on August 13th, 1939, the fifth child of Fred and Elsa (Hohndorf) Eppenbach. He grew up in the O'Neill area and graduated from O"Neill High school.

He married Paula Allen on Sept 1, 1962 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wolbach. Three children were bom to this union; Curtis Dean, Andrea Faye, and Scott Allen.

Paula died on December 29, 1981.

On July 22, 1983 Gerry married Sherry Osterman at the First Presbyterian Church in Grand Island.

Gerry retired from New Holland in 1998 after 32 years of service. At that time he and Sherry moved to Omaha where he continued to work at various jobs.

His favorite pastime was walking his two dogs Polly and Pockets. Gerry was a gentle, kind person and never had a bad word for anyone. To Sherry he was her rock and best friend. Gerry loved to fish but after being diagnosed with melanoma it was more important that he stay in the shade. He will be missed by all who loved him.

Gerry is survived by his wife Sherry of Omaha; sons Curt and Sherri Eppenbach of Lindsborg, KS, Scott Eppenbach of Gary N.C, Stacey Eppenbach and fiance Sonny Skaggs of Lincoln Ne. and Troy Eppenbach of

Omaha NE; and daughters, Andrea and Tom Schlickbernd of Elmira, N.Y, Tamera and Scott Stipsits of Olathe KS and Tiffiny and Daniel Casper of Council Bluffs IA. He is also survived by twenty grandchildren, five great grand children, his sister-in-law Dorothy Eppenbach of Blair NE and his mother-in-law Dorothy Thomsen of St. Paul NE.

Gerry was preceded in death by his first wife Paula; sisters Edna Conway and Lucille Eilers, brothers Orville Eppenbach and Frank Eppenbach. He was also preceded in death by his father-in-law Julius Thomsen.
