Frank S. Fisher, 72, of Dannebrog died Thursday, March 20, 2014 at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Dannebrog. The Reverend Sheri Lodel will officiate.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Sunday at the church.
Interment will be held in Oakridge Cemetery in Dannebrog.
Memorials are suggested to the Dannebrog Fire Department, Mickelsen-Larkowski American Legion Post #241 or Alcoholics Anonymous.
Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Fisher was born June 17, 1941 in Florence, CO to Byron and Mary (Collins) Fisher.
He was raised in Ohio where he graduated from high school.
Frank then entered the United States Air Force where he served for seven years, mostly at Beale Air Force Base in Marysville, Ca.
Frank had worked at New Holland for 25 years at various jobs, retiring in August 1997as a painter.
He moved to Dannebrog and worked part time at Petersen Lumber and in 2002 he began working part time for the Village of Dannebrog.
Frank became a Dannebrog fireman in October 2001.
He served on the Oak Street Manor Housing Board and was currently the president of the Dannebrog Fire District Board. He was also very active in alcoholic's anonymous and was proud to be sober for the past 32 years.
Frank enjoyed making and painting ceramics, attending the youth activities at Centura Schools, having get-togethers with friends for social activities and card parties. He volunteered at the Dannebrog Hike and Bike Trail. Frank also had a strong faith.
In his younger years, he was a member of the American Quarter Horse Club.
He was a member of Mickelsen Larkowski American Legion Post #241 in Dannebrog for the past four years, recently serving as historian and the Sons of the American Legion for the past three years.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Gayle and Jim Smith of Alma; a son, F. Scott Fisher of Kearney; two grandsons; a sister, Alorray Crockett of West Frankfort, IL; step brothers; step sisters; cousins and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
