Florence M. Tomasiewicz

November 18, 1929 — June 13, 2018

Florence Marie Tomasiewicz, 88, of St. Paul, NE died on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Matelyn Retirement Community in St. Paul.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 A.M. Monday, June 18, 2018 at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul.   Reverend Mike Escen will be officiating.  Interment will be in the Elmwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul.  Memorials are suggested to Howard County Medical Center in St. Paul.

Florence was born on November 18, 1929 in Rising City, Nebraska to Edward & Ruby (Compton) Curtis.  The moved to Monroe when Florence was 2 and then to Columbus when she was 5.  She went to school in Columbus, Duncan, Grand Island, & Rosedale.  As a freshman she started school in Rising City where she graduated in 1947.  She attended Midland College that summer and taught school for 3 years.

She was united in marriage to Gerald Tomasiewicz of Silver Creek on October 4, 1948 in Marysville, KS.  They had 4 daughters.  Gerald and Florence farmed in Bellwood, Central City, St. Paul, & Ashton.  She had lived there when her husband was killed in a farm accident on October 23, 1990.  Besides working on the farm, Florence worked at the Ordinance Plant in Grand Island where she was in charge of sick leave, St. Paul Equipment, working as an accountant for 16 years, and Loup Valley Supply in St. Paul for 15 years.

In 1992, she moved to Columbus where she attended the Hyland Park Evangelical Free Church.  She belonged to the Classics.  She also belonged to two Fireman Pinochle Clubs, the Tuesday Sheep Head Club, the Friday Pitch Club, the Saturday Morning Coffee Club, and Solitaires.  She became special friends with Duane Schacker of Monroe and traveled over most of the world.

Survivors include her special friend, Duane Schacker of Monroe; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda & Pat Larson of Clarks, Connie & Dan Stanczyk of Ashton, Diane Bonczkowski of Clackamas, WA, Janet and Kirk Kietzke of Columbus; 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gerald; 4 brothers; 3 sisters; & son-in-law, Harry Bonczkowski.
