Fern E (Bremer) Cyboron

June 26, 1929 — November 10, 2018

Fern E. Cyboron, 89 of Grand Island passed away Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Tiffany Square Care Center in Grand Island, Nebraska.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, November 16, 10:30 AM at Resurrection Catholic Church in Grand Island.  Father Joseph Kadaprayil & Father Thomas Ryan will be officiating. Interment will take place at the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Grand Island.

Visitation will be Thursday, November 15, 5:00-7:00 PM at Resurrection Catholic Church, a prayer service will follow at 7:00 pm.

Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Cyboron was born on June 26, 1929 on the family farm near Boelus, NE to Harry and Sophia (Weiss) Bremer.  She was raised near Boelus and started school at District 25, then attended Boelus High School where she graduated in 1947.

She was united in marriage to Valentine Cyboron on November 25, 1947 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rockville, Nebraska.  The couple lived on a farm adjacent to Boelus and then in 1957 moved to her parents family farm north of Boelus.  Fern was a devoted homemaker and farm wife.  She drove bus for the Boelus and Centura Schools, and also worked in the school cafeteria for Grand Island Public Schools.  In 1978 they moved to a farm near Rockville, Nebraska. In 1991 they retired and moved to Grand Island, Nebraska. In 2009 they moved to Primrose Retirement Home in Grand Island.

Val and Fern enjoyed attending the Ainsworth Music Festival for a number of years, as well as camping.

Family was very important to Val and Fern.  She was a woman with strong Christian faith.  She was an excellent cook and baker especially known for her homemade jelly and pies.  She also enjoyed gardening, playing cards, and BINGO.

She was a past member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rockville and a current member of the Resurrection Catholic Church in Grand Island.

Fern is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, David and Marilyn Cyboron of Boelus; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Jeanette (Jeannie) Hulme of Scottsdale, AZ, Sharon (Sherrie) Schwartz of Overland Park, Kansas, Valda (Val) and Lee Lanka of Grand Island and Lois and Arlan Jr. Lauritsen of Omaha; 15 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; one sister Phyllis Stepanek of rural St. Paul; sisters-in-law, Rose Marie Cyboron of Grand Island, Dorothy Cyboron of Denver, CO; brother-in-law, Donald Plambeck of Grand Island; and several nephews & nieces.

Fern was preceded in death by her parents; husband Val; and two sons-in-law, Jim Hulme and Gregg Schwartz; 2 grandchildren, Joseph Cyboron and Randall Hulme; and a great grandson, Brandon Medjo.

Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date.
