Eugene D. Petersen

Eugene Petersen, 68, of St. Paul died Friday, February 10, 2012 at his home in St. Paul.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in St. Paul. Carolyn Hellerich will officiate. Burial will be held in Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m., Sunday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul.

As a memorial choice, the family would like to request a special favor; they ask that you take a day, or an hour, to contact those you care about and tell them that you love them. It is their hope that they will do the same in turn, and send out ripples of felicity into the world.

Eugene was born November 10, 1943 in St. Paul to Robert & Augusta (Samuelson) Petersen.

He attended grade school in Cushing and high school in St. Paul, where he graduated in 1962. He attended one year at Kearney State College.

Eugene was united in marriage to Margaret McKoski on April 11, 1968 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in St. Paul.

He owned Pete's Motorcycle Shop in St. Paul.

Eugene worked as head of maintenance at Redman's Homes in Grand Island.

He attended one year at CCC in Grand Island and received his degree as an electrician and then he worked at Kruse Electric in Grand Island and worked various jobs as a handyman.

Eugene was known as a leader. He was a creator and was an eccentric type of person. He enjoyed chemistry, carpentry, reading especially military history, guns, model airplanes and a motorcycle club. He was an author and also interested in motorcycles and auto mechanics. His favorite holiday was 4th of July.

He was baptized at the Lutheran Church in Cushing.

He was an original member of the Royal Coachman Car Club in St. Paul.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret of St. Paul, two daughters & sons-in-law, Deseray & Jeremy Meister of Waverly and Lorraine & Gary Grantzinger of Grand Island; four grandchildren, Amber, Nathan, Adam and Axel; and one brother & sister-in-law, Norman & Lois Petersen of Grand Island.

Eugene is preceded in death by his parents, one infant sister and his grandparents.
