Emma "Janey" Jane (Skinner) Laughrey

Emma Jane “Janey” Laughrey, 100 of St. Paul, passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at Brookefield Park in St. Paul.

Funeral Services will be at 2:00 P.M on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at the First Presbyterian Church in St. Paul.  Philip LaRoe will officiate.  Interment will be in the Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul.  The service will be livestreamed on the Jacobsen-Greenway-Dietz Facebook Page.

Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. on Monday, April 5, 2021 at Jacobsen-Greenway-Dietz Funeral Home in St.  Paul.  Memorials are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church in St. Paul.

Mrs. Laughrey was born on October 16, 1920 in Pottawattamie County, Iowa to Charles & Ellen (Mickey) Skinner.  She attended school in Missouri Valley, Iowa and graduated from high school in 1938.  She was married to James Laughrey in Abilene, Texas on May 11, 1943 before he was deployed to the war in Europe.  The couple moved to St. Paul in 1953 where they owned and operated the Coast to Coast store for 12 years.  They purchased the St. Paul bakery in 1963 and operated it for 10 years.  Following the sale of the bakery in 1973, they owned and operated the Dan Dee Drive-Inn in Dannebrog until they retired in 1985.

Janey was a long time and very devoted member of First United Presbyterian Church of St. Paul and belonged to the Presbyterian Women’s Group and enjoyed serving church lunches.  She was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge.  Her hobbies included knitting, crocheting, & and quilting.

She is survived by four daughters, Mary Jane (Robert) Lamberson of Dannebrog, Carolyn (Larry) McClure of Lincoln, Yvonne Jackson of Kansas City, MO and Shannon (Lowell) Dudzinski, of Glendale, AZ; 1 sister, Charlotte Gardner of California; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; & 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Janey was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; one daughter, Jeri; 7 brothers; and sister.
