Ella M. Aschwege, 97, of St. Paul formerly of the Palmer area died Monday, April 14, 2014 at Brookefield Park in St. Paul.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Christ Lutheran Church in St. Paul. The Reverend Thomas Clark will officiate. Inurnment will be held at 1:45 p.m. in Rose Hill Cemetery in Palmer.
A time to visit with the family will be held on Saturday, from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Christ Lutheran Church, the Fire Department or EMT's in St. Paul or Palmer.
Greenway Funeral Home of Palmer is in charge of arrangements.
Ella was the daughter of Edward and Ida (Wagner) Kunze. She was born March 26, 1917 in Howard County near Palmer. She entered into rest on at the age of 97 years.
Ella was raised near Palmer and attended District 63 School near Palmer.
After her schooling she helped on the family farm and also milked cows.
After meeting her future husband at a dance, Ella and Raymond Aschwege were united in marriage on July 22, 1939 in Leigh, NE.
She and her husband farmed and raised cattle, hogs and chickens.
Ella enjoyed gardening, playing cards at neighborhood card parties and traveling including going to Alaska and Hawaii.
She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in St. Paul.
Ella is survived by a son, Paul of St. Paul; a sister-in-law, Fern Kunze of Grand Island; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond on February 10, 1979; a son, Robert; an infant daughter; five brothers, Ted, Walt, Albert, Reinhart and Max Kunze; and four sisters, Millie Kamper, Frieda Lautenschlager, Helen Bjorkland and Alma Kunze.
