Eilene A. Burkhardt Pogue, 72, of Greeley and formerly of Palmer, died Saturday, May 03, 2014 at Brookefield Park in St. Paul.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wolbach. The Vicar Marcia Dorn will officiate. Interment will be at 1:30 p.m. in Rose Hill Cemetery in Palmer.

Visitation will be on Monday, from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul.

Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.

Eilene was born March 27, 1942 in St. Paul to Russell and Alice (Suhl) Peetz.

She was raised on a farm near Wolbach. Eilene attended country school northwest of Wolbach for eight years before attending Wolbach High School where she graduated in 1960. She attended Grand Island School of Beauty for two years.

Eilene was united in marriage to Dale Burkhardt on September 9, 1961 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wolbach. The couple raised four boys, Kim, Kent, Kenneth and Keith.

Dale and Eilene lived in Palmer and worked at Lemmerman's Hatchery and Farms of Palmer until December 1980. They then moved to Pleasant Dale where they were employed by Hill Hatchery from January 1981 until 1995. Eilene worked at Ferabee Turkey Farm from 1995 until 1999. She then held various jobs.

Her husband Dale died April 21, 2001.

Eilene was married to Walter Pogue on June 14, 2003 in Wolbach. They lived in Greeley and she volunteered at the Greeley Care Home for several years.

She was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease in 2007. She lived at Country House Residences in Grand Island for a short time before moving to Heritage Living Center in St. Paul in September 2010.

Eilene and Walter loved to attend country music festivals. She raised flowers and did needlepoint. Eilene thoroughly enjoyed attending her grandchildren's baseball games, wrestling and all of their activities.

She served as a Den Mother for Cub Scouts for many years in Palmer.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Wolbach, the Wolbach American Legion Auxiliary, and the Suncatchers Group at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Pleasant Dale.

Survivors include her husband, Walter of Greeley; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Kim Burkhardt of Grand Rapids, MI, Kent Burkhardt of Milford, Kenneth and Jana Burkhardt of Milford, and Keith and Angie Burkhardt of Pleasant Dale; nine grandchildren, Zack Powell, Keelee, Kelsey, Ken, Jr., Kyle, Cody, Cassidy, Cale, and Kolby Burkhardt; three step grandchildren, Michelle, Zach and Nathan Roth; four great grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dick and Joyce Peetz and Terry and Jean Peetz, all of Wolbach, a sister, Marialice Nuernberger of Cedar Rapids and a sister-in-law, Marianne Peetz of North Loup.

She is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Dale; two brothers, Arlen and Kenneth Peetz; one sister, Sharon Allard and two infant sisters, Connie and Phyliss Peetz.
