Eileen H. Faaborg, 90, of Dannebrog, died Thursday, January 30, 2014 at Brookefield Park in St. Paul, Nebraska.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul. The Reverend Robert Carlson, Jr. will officiate. Burial will be held in Nysted Cemetery at Nysted.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the Faith Lutheran Evangelical Church at Nysted or to the Dannebrog EMT's.
Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul is in charge of the arrangements.
Eileen and her twin sister, Pauline were born January 31, 1923 to Charles and Zena Huston near St. Edward, Nebraska.
Their mother died in 1926 and they were raised by an aunt and uncle for a few months. They were going to be placed in an orphanage until John and Ettie Oakley took them and later adopted them. Their older sister, Dorothy went to Kansas to be raised by grandparents.
Eileen attended school in Wolbach and graduated from Wolbach High School. Eileen attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Wolbach with the Oakleys. She sang in choir and attended Bible studies there.
Eileen worked at Sidles, a Grand Island automotive wholesale company for 23 years.
She was united in marriage to Otto Faaborg on July 27, 1968 in Wolbach.
The couple enjoyed traveling together and staying with relatives when they traveled. They attended many music festivals and did a lot of camping and fishing. Eileen preferred to read while Otto fished! The couple also enjoyed playing cards. Eileen always enjoyed her social life at Dannebrog and eating breakfast at Tom's (Danish Baker) every morning. She loved the company of friends and family.
Eileen was a member of Faith Lutheran Evangelical Church at Nysted. She served as church treasurer for many years. She attended Ladies Aid and was secretary of the Aid at times. She attended worship and Bible Study as both were important to her.
Otto passed away on October 28, 2002 and Eileen continued to live in Dannebrog.
Eileen is survived by her nieces and nephews & their spouses, Randy Faaborg of Cotesfield, Lee & Lisa Faaborg and Marilyn & Russell Williams all of Grand Island, Diane & Rene Simard of Colorado, Don & Norma Marco of Grand Island, Neal & Luella Marco of Blair, Jack & Hertha Marco of Bellevue, and Carole & Oscar Johnson of Blair; her twin sister, Pauline's children: Robert, Kay, Don, Diana and Len all of Arizona.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and her adoptive parents John and Ettie Oakley, her sister Vedia Oakley Marco, brother Steven Oakley and her twin sister Pauline Ducharme and sister Dorothy and a brother Harvey.
