Edna L Hilmer

September 7, 1930 — January 17, 2018

Edna L. Hilmer, daughter of Ruel and Bertha (Winfrey) Glines was born September 7, 1930 on a farm near Wolbach.  She entered into rest on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Brookefield Park in St. Paul at the age of 87 years.

Services will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul.  The Reverend Cat Love will be officiating.  Inurnment will be in the Elmwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. Tuesday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul.  Memorials are suggested to the Family to be designated at a later date.

Edna attended school in Wolbach and graduated in 1947.

She taught rural school for four years, then worked to Dr. Roemmich for a couple of years.

She met and married Edward Hilmer in 1954 and lived on the family farm near Boelus where she raised two children, Kenneth and Jane.

Edna worked at Howard County Hospital for twelve years and retired in 1987.

Edna enjoyed painting, playing the guitar and organ, reading and doing crossword puzzles.  She also liked to play on the computer.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in St. Paul and the Art Guild.

Survivors include a daughter, Jane Wortman of Boelus; five grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Arnold and Jeannie Glines of Grand Island and Art and Barb Glines of Central City.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Ed; a son, Kenneth Hilmer; a son-in-law, John Wortman; and a sister and brother-in-law, Ella and Bob Luft.
