Earl "Wayne" Hormann

May 11, 1947 — December 18, 2024

Loup City

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Earl “Wayne” Hormann, 77, of Loup City, who left us on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at the Howard County Medical Center in St. Paul. Honoring Earl's wishes, his body was cremated. We invite family and friends to join us for a heartfelt Celebration of Life on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at 10:00 A.M. at the Community Center in Loup City, where Pastor Ryan Durham will lead the service, allowing us to reflect on the cherished memories we have of Earl.

Earl was born on May 11, 1947, in Aberdeen, South Dakota, to Earl and Marian (Pulling) Hormann. In the summer of 1967, he found love and joy by marrying Carol Jean (Crawford) Hormann. Together, they celebrated an incredible 45 years of marriage before her passing on September 12, 2012. Their union blessed them with three wonderful children: Dawn, Melanie, and Mike, who were the light of Earl’s life.

Earl held his Commercial Driver's License (CDL) for most of his life, which allowed him to embrace the freedom and joy of being a truck driver. He found happiness in the little things, like playing cards and darts, and he often found comfort in watching Western movies, with James Stewart as his favorite actor. When he wasn’t on the road, you could find him enjoying the open air on his motorcycle. He had a warm heart to all animals.  Family meant everything to Earl, and he had a special gift for connecting with people from all walks of life. His generosity and kindness shone through in everything he did; he truly had a heart of gold. Earl loved to lift spirits with his singing and jokes, always bringing a smile to those around him. He left a lasting impression and warmth in the hearts of everyone who knew him. Earl knew how to walk with Jesus.

Earl leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish his memory: his daughters, Dawn (Rodney) Sherman of Alda, NE, and Melanie (Allen) Hansen of St. Paul, NE; along with two sisters, Vereen Gaughen of Central City and Brenda Bengough of Omaha.  His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Daniel (Jamie) Hormann, Courtney Hormann, Laken Hormann, Matthew Hansen, Owen Hansen, Trenton Hansen, and Alex and Madi Hormann; as well as his great-grandchildren, Levi, Ali, Jaxson, and Hendrix, who brought him immense joy. Earl was preceded in death by his beloved parents; his wife, Carol; his son, Mike Hormann, and a brother, Gaylord Hormann. As we come together to celebrate his life, let us find comfort in the love he shared and the memories that will remain forever etched in our hearts.
