Dorothy C. Thomsen, 95, of St. Paul died Monday, September 16, 2013 at Brookefield Park in St. Paul.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday at the First Presbyterian Church in St. Paul. The Reverend Kati Salmons will officiate. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul.
Visitation will be on Thursday, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul.
Memorials are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church.
Dorothy was born August 3, 1918 in St. Paul to Jacob and Minnie (Roush) Uleman.
Mrs. Thomsen was raised near St. Paul and attended District School 33 east of St. Paul before completing her education at St. Paul High School where she graduated in 1935.
After her education she worked in St. Paul.
Dorothy was united in marriage to Julius Thomsen on February 25, 1938 in Grand Island. The couple lived and farmed north of St. Paul until 1973 when the couple moved into St. Paul.
Dorothy worked at the Fashionette from 1966 until 1990. The couple lived the remainder of their lives in St. Paul.
For many years Dorothy enjoyed sewing. She also attended many sporting events.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in St. Paul where she had served as an elder and deacon, Carl Mogensen American Legion Auxiliary Unit #119 of St. Paul, Eastern Star and the Harmony Club.
Dorothy was a 40 year volunteer for the Bloodmobile and she also served on the Election Board.
Survivors include a daughter, Sherry Eppenbach of Omaha; four grandchildren; three step grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; seven step great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; one brother, Donald "Bud" Uleman of Omaha; and three sisters, Joyce "Sis" Petska of Carlsbad, CA, Geraldine Holmes of Omaha and Betty Hyde of Palm Desert, CA.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Julius on March 16, 1988; four brothers, Robert, Wayne, Jack and Forrest Uleman; an infant brother, Kenneth Uleman; three sisters, Leila Mangelsen, Cathryn Guy, and Maxine Daley and a son-in-law, Gerry Eppenbach.
