Doris Anderson

October 21, 1917 — December 20, 2013

Doris Anderson, 96, of St. Paul died Friday, December 20, 2013 at Howard County Medical Center in St. Paul, Nebraska.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday at First Presbyterian Church in St. Paul. The Reverend Kati Salmons will officiate.

Interment will be held in Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m., Sunday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul.

Mrs. Anderson was born October 21, 1917 at Burr, Nebraska to Henry and Laura (French) Goering.

The family moved to Palmer, Nebraska when she was five years old. She attended Indian Hill Grade school to the 8th grade and graduated from Cushing High School in 1935.

She did domestic work for different families in the area.

Doris was united in marriage to Carl Anderson on February 28, 1939 at the First Presbyterian Church in St. Paul. The couple lived on a farm east of Elba, where they farmed. The couple lived there for 58 years. In 1997 the couple moved to St. Paul.

Doris loved to spend time with her granddaughters and family, making quilts and embroidering, having friends over for a game of cards and visiting.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and Presbyterian Church Women since 1950. She belonged to East West Club and Handy Gals card clubs.

Doris is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Eugene & Susan Anderson of Springdale, AR; two granddaughters, Sarah Corcoran and her husband, Nicholas of Takoma Park, MD & Christine Tyler and her husband, Jake of Tulsa, OK; two great grandsons, Andrew and Benjamin Corcoran; one brother and sister-in-law, Don Goering & Ada Pedersen of Fort Collins, CO; two sisters-in-law, Delores Goering of Grand Island and Lavonne Anderson of St. Paul; a brother-in-law, Allen Anderson of Lincoln; and many dear nieces, nephews and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl on August 5, 2002; and two brothers, Merling Goering and Darold Goering.
