Donald E. Nichols, 88, of St. Paul died Saturday, April 6, 2013 at the Howard County Medical Center in St. Paul.
A family graveside service will be held at Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul. Reverend Randy Dilts will officiate.
Memorials suggested to the family's choice.
Mr. Nichols was born November 4, 1924 in St. Paul to Frank and Rose (Mohler) Nichols.
He was raised in St. Paul and attended schools in St. Paul.
Don was united in marriage to Gladys Havel on November 22, 1972 in Geneva, NE.
He worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad for 37 years and after retiring the couple lived in central Nebraska most recently in St. Paul.
Don enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He was raised in the Methodist Faith and was a member of the Carl Mogensen American Legion Post #119 of St. Paul.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys of St. Paul; a son, Frank of Lincoln; a step son, Richard Havel of Grand Island; two step daughters, Kay Hassler and her husband Tom of Columbus and Karen Jantzi and her husband Richard of Fairmont and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Rose Ann Nichols; three brothers, Marvin, Kenneth and Jim Nichols; and a sister, Beulah.
