Donald L. Larson, 82, of St. Paul died Monday, April 08, 2013 at the Howard County Medical Center in St. Paul.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wolbach. Vicar Marcia Dorn will officiate. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery in Wolbach with military honors by the Carl Mogensen American Legion Post #119 of St. Paul and the Ray Mapes American Legion Post #236 of Wolbach.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul.

Memorials are suggested to the donor's choice.

Mr. Larson was born February 2, 1931 in rural Greeley County near Brayton, NE to Art and Lena (Henrikson) Larson,

He grew up on the family farm and attended Brayton Schools. He was baptized and confirmed in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Wolbach and was a lifetime member there.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 thru 1954. He was stationed in Fort Knox, Kentucky in the 3rd Armored Division Tank Corp.

Don was united in marriage to Vonna Ludington on April 24, 1953 at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Grand Island. They spent their first year of marriage in Kentucky. Following his discharge from the Army they returned to Nebraska to farm, where their first son David was born. After 2 years of drought, they traveled to Wyoming and New Mexico where their daughter Dianne was born.

The couple returned to Nebraska to farm near Palmer. There three more children were born, Teresa, Don and Dan. They lived on the farm until ill health forced him to retire and move to St. Paul in 1992. In 1994 they traveled to Salt Lake City, UT where he received a heart transplant.

Don was involved in 4-H with his children.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Wolbach, Carl Mogensen American Legion Post #119 of St. Paul, the Spring Creek and the Wolbach Saddle Clubs. Don served on the Farmer's Union Board in Wolbach and on the District 44 rural school board where he served as president.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Vonna of St. Paul; five children and spouses, David and Cathy Larson and Dianne and Bill Score all of Grand Island, Teresa and Ray Lorang of York, Don and Melissa Larson of Scribner and Dan and Barb Larson of rural Palmer; 15 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Vernon and Karlene Larson of Doniphan; a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Dick Dugan of Mesa, AZ and a friend and caregiver, Kourtney Killinger.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Katelyn Larson; his parents; two brothers, Arnold and Marvin and a sister Mildred Augustin.
