In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Farwell Volunteer Fire & Rescue or St. Mark's Lutheran Church in St. Paul.
Donnie was born on June 30, 1927 to Joseph & Helen (Horky) Klanecky at the farm home north of Farwell, Nebraska. He attended country school at District 52 in Howard County. In June of 1942, he survived a serious farm accident. He was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in St. Paul and the Western Fraternal Lodge (ZCBJ) in Farwell. After living at St. Paul Plaza, he moved to Matelyn and enjoyed their many activities. There he had many friends and enjoyed the rides in the country.
Donnie farmed his entire life. When he wasn’t listening to polka music, he was playing cards or watching “Gunsmoke” & “All Star Wrestling.” If he knocked while playing Svick (Czech card game), you might as well throw your cards down because Uncle Donnie would for sure be taking all of your money. Even in his 80’s, he did not hesitate to jump in the go cart and take a spin around his nephew, Jim’s track. He was an accomplished wood worker & carpenter. Some of his favorites were his bird houses and building blocks. Donnie took over making kolaches when his mother was no longer able. He was like a grandpa to many of his nieces & nephews.
Those left to cherish his memory include his brother & sister-in-law, Dennis & Dera Lea Klanecky of St. Paul; nephews, Jim (Brenda) Klanecky of St. Paul, Terry (Sharon) Klanecky of Grand Island, Richard (Jennifer) Klanecky of Cairo, Lester Trubl of Phoenix, AZ; niece, Brenda (Chad) Wells of St. Paul.
Donnie was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph & Helen; brother, Dale Klanecky; sister, Darlene Trubl; nephews, Roger Trubl, Russel Trubl, & Brian Klanecky.
