Donald W. Friedrichsen

February 17, 1939 — October 10, 2013

Donald W. Friedrichsen, 74, of Palmer died Thursday, October 10, 2013 at Bryan-LGH East in Lincoln.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday at the First Church of Christ in Palmer. The Reverend Martin Leeper will officiate. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Palmer.

Visitation will be from 5:00- 7:00 p.m. Sunday at Greenway Funeral Home in Palmer.

Memorials are suggested to the Palmer Rescue Unit, Fire Department or Burton Beyer American Legion.

Mr. Friedrichsen was born February 17, 1939 to W. Laurence and Mildred (Blauhorn) Friedrichsen at their home in Merrick County.

He attended District 47 School and then Palmer High School. Don was baptized and attended Sunday School and Catechism at the Archer Zion United Methodist church.

Don was united in marriage to Lida Verplank Davis on July 1, 1962 at the First Church of Christ in Palmer. She had two children, Kathy and Dale Davis which he provided a home and education for.

Don's dad passed away when he was only 12 years old. He always liked helping with the farm work. He first worked at the Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant in Grand Island. He also drove truck for Ted Rutten along with doing the farming that he loved. Don would also haul hay.

He enjoyed playing cards, going to casinos, and having Sunday morning breakfast at the Cow Palace. He loved antique tractors, car and antique tractor shows and attending and participating in tractor pulls.

Don was a member of the Central City Eagles Club.

Survivors include his children, Donnie Friedrichsen and Lonnie Friedrichsen and Valerie Sims all of Grand Island, Kurt Friedrichsen and his wife Shelley of Palmer, Mitch Friedrichsen and his wife Dawn of Central City, Lisa Brumbaugh and her husband Shawn of Palmer, Kathy Woods and her husband Curtis of Roseburg, OR and Dale Davis and his wife Amy of Palmer; his mother, Mildred Scarborough of St. Paul; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert Friedrichsen of Palmer and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, W. Laurence Friedrichsen; step-father, Harry Scarborough; wife, Lida Friedrichsen; and a brother, Dale Friedrichsen.
