Dominic "Doc" Ziemba, 87, of St. Paul, died Monday, January 3, 2011 at the Nebraska Veterans Medical Center in Grand Island, Nebraska.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 13, 2011 at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul. Inurnment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul, Nebraska. The Reverend Lonnie Logan will officiate. Military honors will be presented by the Carl Mogensen American Legion Post #119 of St. Paul.
Doc's request was to be cremated.
Memorials are suggested the family's choice.

Doc was born July 27, 1923 to John & Bernice (Pawloski) Ziemba in Farwell, Nebraska.
He grew up attending school in Farwell. He graduated from Farwell High School in 1942.
Doc went to work at the Cornhusker Ammunition Plant in Grand Island until March of 1943 and then entered the United States Army. He spent two years in Camp Polk, Louisiana before going to England and then France and the European war zone in the 148th Signal Corp. He returned to the states in February of 1946.
He was united in marriage to Joyce Ward on May 14, 1946 in Farwell. They lived their first year in Grand Island where he worked for the REA. In May of 1947, they moved to a farm northwest of St. Paul. While living on the farm three children were born: Charles, Cynthia and Bruce.
In 1951 the family moved into St. Paul. Both Doc & Joyce went to work at the Cornhusker Ammunition Plant. In 1952, Doc enrolled into the Nebraska Barber College and graduated in 1954. He started working in French's Barber Shop. During his 40 years of barbering he also barbered evenings in Elba and Wolbach. Doc retired the first of 1995.
After retiring, he enjoyed his yard work, raising a big garden, his family and golfing.
He was a member of the Carl Mogensen American Legion Post #119 of St. Paul and the United Methodist Church and the Grand Island Education Association.
He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Charles and Yvonne Ziemba of St. Libory and Bruce Ziemba of Grand Island; one daughter, Cynthia of Grand Island; four granddaughters, Linnette Kramer, Melinda Ficher, Katie Dimmitt and Heather Harlow; one great granddaughter, Joyce; eight great grandsons, Jeffery, Jason, Hunter, Hayden, Holden, Jarid, Isaac, Conrad; several nieces and nephews.
Doc was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joyce; and two sisters, Isabelle Riddick and Evangeline Krieser.
