Diedrich “D.D.” Dugger

Diedrich “D.D.” Dugger, 70 of Palmer, died peacefully at home on Friday, October 29, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his family.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, November 5, 2021, at the United Methodist Church in Palmer, Nebraska. Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Palmer, Nebraska. Pastor Mike Anderson will be officiating.

Visitation will be from 4-7 P.M. on Thursday, November 4, 2021, at the United Methodist Church in Palmer. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date. Greenway-Dietz Funeral Home in Palmer is assisting the family.

Diedrich was born on October 20, 1951 in Central City, Nebraska to Glen and Etta Belle (Knapp) Dugger.  They moved to Palmer where D.D. attended Palmer Public School, graduating in 1970.

D.D. served in the U.S. Army serving in the Vietnam War from March of 1971 to August of 1973.

He was united in marriage to Marilyn Cernik on August 12, 1977 in St. Paul, Nebraska.  The couple lived in Palmer, then moved to the Akron area northwest of Albion, Nebraska.  Later, they moved back to Palmer.  To this union, 3 children were born: Robert, Jennifer, & Chris.

Over the years, D.D. worked for Doug Retzlaff, Sand Livestock, Noble Farms, Trotter Fertilizer, and 4 Seasons Ag, retiring in 2020.

He was a member of the Burton-Beyer American Legion Post 120 in Palmer, Nebraska.  He was also a member of the Central Nebraska Antique and Equip Club and the United Methodist Church in Palmer.

He enjoyed working on his antique tractors.  His pride and joy was finding the ZB Minneapolis Moline his father had bought new in 1953 and restoring it.  He enjoyed spending time with his dogs, Athena and Juno “Fatty.”  He enjoyed taking his tractors to the State Fair and going on tractor drives all over the state.  He also enjoyed taking his grandchildren on tractor rides or teaching them how to drive them.

D.D. enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.  Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Marilyn Dugger of Palmer; son and fiancé, Robert Dugger and Shari Sock of Cedar Rapids, NE; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and David Brundage of St. Libory, son and fiancé, Chris Dugger and Chelsea Boyce of Hebron; grandchildren, Riley Dugger, HaiLee and Colten McCready, Kody Sock, Raylin and Hunter Boyce; brothers and sisters-in-law, Steve and Bridget Dugger, Bill and Deb Dugger; sister, Sue Kaiser; nephew that they raised, Dustin (Brittany) Dugger; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; brother, Tom Dugger; and brother-in-law, Harold Kaiser.
