Dennis W. Thede, 69, of Alda died April 30, 2012 at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island, Nebraska.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday at Greenway Funeral Home in Palmer, Nebraska. The Reverend Robert Schilling will officiate. Burial will be held in Rose Hill Cemetery in Palmer. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home in Palmer.

Memorials are suggested to the family's choice.

It is the family's request that people attending the service dress casual.

Mr. Thede was born January 9, 1943 near Palmer in Merrick County to Walter and May (Christensen) Thede.

Dennis first attended country schools near Palmer and then Palmer Public Schools where he graduated from high school in 1961.

He then served in the National Guard. After his discharge, he farmed with his father in Merrick County and he also farmed in Howard County and also raised hogs until the age of 39.

He was united in marriage to VirJean Zmek in 1964 in Grand Island.

He moved to Wyoming in 1980 where he was a home builder.

Dennis married Debora Donaldson on June 10, 1988 in Rock Springs, WY. The couple moved to Grand Island where they lived for four years and he continued building homes. They moved to a home south of Alda in 1999 where they have lived since.

He was an avid outdoorsman loving to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed gardening and flowers. One of his loves was teaching children to hunt and fish, including one of his daughters, Michelle and his step-sons, Robert and Larry.

He was a member of the American Legion in Wyoming.

Survivors include his wife, Debora of Alda; two daughters and a son-in-law, Monica DeMers and Michelle and Rick Vavrik, all of Denver; two step-sons and their wives, Robert and Cori Kaml and Larry and Megan Kaml, all of Rock Springs, WY; 3 grandsons; 6 granddaughters; 1 great-grandson; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dean and Janet Thede of St. Paul and Russell and Jean Thede of Pilger; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Karon and Howard Killion of Shenandoah, IA and Marcia and Don Weavers of Doniphan.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents.
