Dennis L. Rasmussen

May 13, 1929 — November 17, 2018

Dennis L. Rasmussen, 89, of Cotesfield entered into rest on November 17, 2018 at South Haven Living Center in Wahoo.

Memorial service will be held at 9:00 a.m., Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Zion Lutheran Church in Scotia.  Reverend Mark Middendorf will officiate.  A private family inurnment will be held in the Cotesfield Cemetery.

There will be a time for fellowship and refreshments after the service at the church in Scotia.

In lieu of flowers please consider memorial donations. Memorial donations in memory of Dennis will be designated to multiple church radio ministries at a later date. Dad so appreciated the ability to be part of God’s Word through the radio.

Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul is assisting the family.

Dennis was the son of Rasmuss Jensen Rasmussen and Axelina Boilsen Rasmussen was born May 13, 1929 at Cotesfield, Nebraska.

He grew up on the family farm near Cotesfield. He was a graduate of Scotia High School and the Grand Island Business College.

Dennis was united in marriage to Maxine Yax in 1950.

He was a farmer, state senator, a legislative consultant and a member of the NPPD Board of Directors. He also held the offices of President of the Nebraska Federation of Business Associations, Director of the state LEAD program, Vice Chairman of the State Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, as well as serving as a member of the State Chamber of Commerce, the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce, Lincoln Independent Business Association, the Nebraska Water Resources Association, and an AA Sponsor.

He is survived by his children Cindy and Jim Watson of Wahoo, Victoria and Doug Hughes of Lincoln, and Dan and Mary Jo Veskrna of Blair; grandchildren, Rob and Jodi Foxworthy, Amy and Adam Holst, Carey and Matt Lile, Kelsea Hughes/Chase Small, Cera-Rose Hughes/Sam Bennett, Sydney and Doug Flegle and Trevor Veskrna; great-grandchildren Steven and Sophie Holst, Haley Jensen, Charlotte and Garrett Altstadt, Derek Bell, Maya and Maci Foxworthy; his twin brother Dean and Cookie Rasmussen; sister-in-law Vonnie Dzingle and nieces and nephews he loved dearly.

He was proceeded in death by his wife Maxine and son Steve, as well as other dear family members.
