Dennetta M. “Dee” Klinginsmith, 92, of St. Paul died Monday, February 15, 2016 at Brookefield Park in St. Paul.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday at the First Presbyterian Church in St. Paul. Reverend Martha Voigt will officiate. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery in St. Paul.
Visitation will be on Thursday, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul.
Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice.
Mrs. Klinginsmith was born May 29, 1923 in Loup City to Frank and Mary (Kaminski) Palu.
The family lived south of Elba for a while before moving to Grand Island.
After Dee finished her schooling, she worked at her grandmother’s restaurant in the Palmer Hotel in Grand Island.
Dee was united in marriage to Rex Klinginsmith on April 2, 1949 in Grand Island.
The couple lived in Grand Island and Dee worked at Holiday Manufacturing in Grand Island. When the company sold it became Leon Chemical and moved to Alda, Dee continued to work there until she retired after 30 years of employment.
In 1973 she began working with her husband Rex at the Jack and Jill Grocery Store in St. Paul. She retired from Jack and Jill in 1989.
Dee enjoyed making silk flower arrangements, gardening, both outdoor and indoor flowers and plants, traveling and especially spending time with her grandchildren.
She was a past member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Grand Island.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Jack Meinecke of St. Paul; four grandchildren and spouses, Jason and Sally Meinecke of St. Paul, Jeff and Angela Meinecke of Rockwall, TX, Kristina and Trevor Hahn of Omaha and Michael and Jennifer Meinecke of Dannebrog; seven great-grandchildren, Ashton, Alex, Jackson and Sierra Meinecke and Emily, Cris and Joe Maus; and two sisters, Rita Watson of Littleton, CO and Barbara Luebbe of Grand Island.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Rex on August 27, 2000; five brothers, Edward, Dell, Ralph, Elvin and Ernest; and three sisters, Rosella, Velma and Stella.
